Y.E.S. Academy has three levels with children who range from grades K-12. Homework Helpers should be comfortable with students in a range of ages, but each will particularly focus on one of the following groups, based on his or her experiences and capabilities: early elementary, upper elementary, or middle school
Job Description
Position: Homework Helper

Summary of Position:
Under the direction of the Site Supervisor, Homework Helpers work with Y.E.S. Academy members of various ages to provide academic support. Homework Helpers lead hour-long Study Halls containing up to 12 members and have primary responsibility for members’ completion of homework and for their use of good study skills. Overseeing a set group of kids on a day-to-day basis, Homework Helpers will build relationships with members, track members’ progress, and provide informal tutoring as needed. Homework Helpers should have good ability with positive behavior management and be skilled in motivating members to focus and work hard. This role is a good fit for an aspiring teacher or youth worker with a background of working with kids.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Manage groups of up to 4-10 children during Study Hall sessions
· Provide academic support in all subjects for all assigned students who need assistance.
· Observe and track member’s progress and attendance through diagnostics, incentive systems, etc.
· Reinforce positive student behavior and Y.E.S. Academy rules; maintain a positive relationship with all members, families and staff.
· Attend part-time orientation and Education Training meetings.
· Report any problems, member incidents and concerns to supervisor or Director.

POSITION SUMMARY
The counselor selected for this position will report directly to the director and will be responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, educational and recreational- based environment as part of the YES Academy After School program. Counselors are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times, including dress and speech. Team members are expected to treat all members of the YES community with respect, understanding and a sense of responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Create lesson plans, games, and creative projects for students to participate in that enhance literacy, analytical and creative thinking and self-confidence
Update parent information board
Attend all staff meetings and training sessions
Work with a team to create the best experience for all YES students and families
Assist with all daily operational functions including snack, setup and cleanup, line checks,
attendance, and program supervision
Maintain all supplies, equipment, and materials and advise the director of programs if any items
are missing or need to be replenished
Work on and off-site with programs as needed
Supervise junior counselors throughout the day
Be sure all homework is checked for accuracy and signed by staff
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Knowledge and experience of supervising children and acting as a positive role model
Reliable and dependable
Work a flexible schedule to meet program needs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of MS Office or Google Suite QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED
• A Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, development or psychology or similar experience is desired

DESCRIPTION
Position: Site Director,
Reports to: Program Administrator
Hours: 35 /40 hours
General Responsibilities: The YES Site Director is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations for an afterschool program, including planning, coordination, and supervision of the program to ensure that families receive quality services which provide for growth in academics, social emotional development, and health and wellness. In addition, he/she ensures focus on programming that promotes healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development.
We are looking for an experienced Program Director to supervise a wide range of programs. You will be responsible for the delivery and overall success of each program. You will supervise managers and inform management on progress and performance. A successful Program Director must have a broad knowledge of program management principles. They must have a strategic mindset as well as be able to lead and develop their subordinates. The goal is to ensure every program will be delivered successfully and add the highest possible value to the organization.
Responsibilities:
Administration & Management
• Plan, schedule, and implement structured, high-quality programming that aligns with school day learning. Ensure all duties such as homework is completed daily by staff
• Translate EEC/OCFS/DOHMH state regulations into daily practices and program policies
• Ensure the use of positive behavior guidance among program staff members
• Lead enrollment, recruitment, and retention of students & families
• With the administrator is responsible for hiring, training, orientation, supervision, and professional development of program staff
• Monitor attendance, staff hours, and secure central delivery of program fees
• Facilitate program evaluation and progress reports
• Maintenance of open, effective communication and interaction among the programs and partners; engagement of parents/families
• Performance of other duties as requested by YES supervisor or school principal
Apply change, risk and resource management principles when needed.
Read and prepare reports to determine progress and issues.
Supervise all program and project managers involved to provide feedback and resolve complex problems.
Develop or approve budgets and operations.
Discover ways to enhance efficiency and productivity of procedures and people.
Plan the programs from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones, and processes.
Initiate and set goals for programs according to the strategic objectives of the organization.
Leadership & Communication
• Develop & instill strong, positive program culture among staff, students, families, and larger school community
• Participate in networking meetings with other YES Site Directors as well as create partnership agreements with local businesses, offices etc.
Family & Teacher Engagement
• Institute with Program Administrator a system for communicating with parents on individual student needs and assessments
• Design and distribute newsletters to the parents & community, highlighting the successes of the afterschool program.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit (at times on the floor with children) and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, NYS School Age Care SACC credential or related field.
• Director qualified by Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations
• Must be motivated, energetic, punctual, responsible, and exhibit a positive attitude to be an excellent role model for children and staff members
• Ability to lead, teach, and interact with parents, staff, teachers, children, and the school community
• Full commitment to the mission/philosophy of the YES Program
• Knowledge of and ability to facilitate Early Education & Care (EEC) regulations & OCFS /DOHMH
